Purpose:
To understand and explore accountability and responsibility in the Indian judicial system.

Plan of action:
• Look into various judgments of the Supreme Court

• Analyzing the Judicial Standard and Accountability Bill.
• Understanding the relationship between independence and accountability of the judiciary
• Look into the lacunae /loopholes present in the judiciary system (eg. cumbersome process of impeachment, delay in delivering judgments. etc.)
• Browsing articles in newspapers about the recent case where judges have been brought under scrutiny.
• Considering the Code of conduct in judiciary – an attempt to be more accountable.

Materials to be collected:
• Secondary data :Books and articles comprising certain Judgments (Keshavananda Bharti case ; Sri Kumar Padma Prasad Vs Union of India etc)
• Literary reviews.

Constraint:
• Availability of resources.
• Possibility of interviews.

Methods to be used to complete this paper:
Collecting materials and simultaneously reading those. My aim is to start writing as soon as I am done with the reading the materials.

Are there ways in which we can “measure”

    1. accountability

    2. responsibility

Can you break the works in sub parts, use an excel sheet to think of indicators which can measure 1 and 2.

Have a look at international studies which have tried to measure these

    enjoy, very important topic!

Thank you. I will surely try to include this interesting way of looking at accountability. I was also thinking if i could make a comparative study of how accountability works for legislative, executive and judiciary in India.

It would also be very helpful if you could suggest me some works regarding accountability.
