I) Purpose/Research Question:
1)To study and compare the policies regarding holidays in the public and private sectors in different states in India and alsoto compare them with policies in other countries in terms of the parameters stated below.
1.1. Public Holidays
1.2. Central Government Leave Policy
1.3. Court holidays
1.4. State Government Leave Policies
1.5. Public Sector Enterprises Leave Policies
1.6. Laws governing holidays in the private sector
1.7. Data on actual number of holidays given by employers or taken by employees (if available)
II) Method
1) Secondary Research from existing Central and State laws, notifications, circulars etc.
2) Examination of previous studies and reports on the issue
3) Examination of international studies
III) Feasibility Constraints
1) Time:
The time available is to be spent primarily on data collection to be supplemented with commentary and analysis where appropriate and feasible.

Data unavailability
This can be overcome by extensive searches both online and offline. Even after such effort if the data is unavailable, the scope of the study shall be restricted to states for which data is available.
